A private zoo operator in Taiwan cross-bred lions and tigers, resulting in three "liger" cubs. One died and the other two were seized for sheltering at a research institution. Birding and Butterflying North Carolina Gamelands

Brown Wild Indigo Duskywings were everywhere, as were the tiny Eastern Tailed Blue butterflies, plus a Tiger Swallowtail or two. I had a clear mental snapshot, but I fumbled with the camera and before I knew it the bird had dived back beneath the safety and shelter of the bush. Prairie Warbler.

I had visited the park alone in early March and then with Grant later in the month, where we had our Tiger Snake encounter.
