I received an e-mail from the well-meaning Wendy at Compassion in World Farming (which I find an odd combination of words) regarding Egypt's pig cull and asking me to send my protest to the Egyptian Government. Yes, I sent the protest. And what is happening to the pigs in Egypt is indeed sickening.

Military researchers have dressed live pigs in body armor and strapped them into Humvee simulators that were then blown up with explosives to study the link between roadside bomb blasts and brain injury. The explosions have ranged in intensity, wounding some of the pigs and killing others. Roadside bombs are the top killer of U.S.

The animal rights movement is (rightly) closely associated with protesting things like factory farming, dogfighting, etc…basically, the mistreatment of animals. The simple fact is this; by protesting the removal of harmful non-native species, they are supporting the unnecessary deaths and even extinction of many species.

The law, since revised, aimed to protect animal research laboratories from illegal, sometimes violent protests. The group was formed to protest the activities of Huntingdon Life Sciences in Franklin Township, N.J. Huntingdon used mostly mice and rats , but also some dogs, monkeys, fish and guinea pigs , in its research in New Jersey.
