Black-and-white Warblers are usually dapper little birds, with their head-to-tail zebra stripes. Suddenly I saw a ground squirrel creeping up on the Bunting. Leaving the squirrel to feed on the very same grass stalk. But this one had just bathed, and had not yet combed its hair. BUM-bum, BUM-bum!

We had learnt from signs over the days we had been in Singapore that they have a problem with people dumping unwanted pets and we presume this to be the case in the reservoir. There were wild boars and monitors rustling through the leaves as well as the plantain squirrels that we had become so accustomed to.

Dragan continues to be teacher’s pet simply by sharing as he goes. Squirrel Cuckoo – Piaya cayana. Zebra Finch – Taeniopygia guttata. The fiddly nature of such a list makes it very difficult to say who has made the biggest contribution so far, but we can acknowledge merit where it is due on a monthly basis.
