My first thought was that it was probably a hoax but I found the link and shared it to the New York Birders Facebook page, hoping to find out if anyone knew if it was the real deal. Unfortunately, we were heading south on Woodhaven Boulevard along with at least half of the population of New York City.

A New York Times story that ran in 2001 about a homeless dog wandering around a suburban part of New York City, struck a chord with me. They offered him hand-outs and cared enough about him, not to call Animal Control and risk having him picked up and sent to a shelter where his fate would be doomed.
