They are in zoos, circuses, commercials, movies, etc. And, of course, if they are so severely endangered, why are so many carelessly exploited for medical experimentation? Tags: rant chimpanzees medical research endangered species. If you go by the media, there are a ton of them out there. They must be cheap and plentiful right?

The naturalist got out of his car, picked her up, took the tape off her legs, and took her to a local zoo. She was tired, thin, and had several medical issues. One of the animal keepers brought her to me, and I put her in my clinic. to find out her actual age.

I particularly question the use of chimpanzees in medical research. They were one, two or three to a cage, and I am 80 percent sure the accommodations were exemplary as far as such institutions (or for that matter traditional zoos) go. The following is from The Dragons of Eden by Carl Sagan.
