Spotlight: Lisa Beth Acton, Raising Ravens

This summer Lisa raised three orphaned Common Ravens. They were not aware of wildlife laws, and thought they could raise and release them. We took her to the vet and put her on medication, and somehow she pulled through. It’s been quite an adventure raising and releasing them, and I’ve learned so much. It was great!

I also did not understand the centrality of the Delaware Bay to shorebird migration, how timing and geographic design and water quality and tidal streams, the rich salt marshes and protected beaches combine to make this specific area of New Jersey and Delaware “The Most Important Stopover of the Western Hemisphere.”
