On Thanking Slaughtered Sheep for Book Awards

In my own defense, I was nervous, a bright floodlight shone right in my eyes, and I was worried because the mike seemed too low. So I thanked Melissa, thanked Renee, then I hold on to your hat--thanked my sheep. But instead of being sad or upset at the lamb chop on my plate, I was overcome with gratitude.

I have had no other animal products (no beef, pork, lamb, or turkey, for example) since 1982. That depends on whether there are morally relevant differences between chickens and fish on the one hand and cows, pigs, and sheep on the other. (I Salt seems to be saying that there are degrees of rightness. Am I a hypocrite?
