Although I love dogs they're too dependent on humans, it's true that stray/feral dogs can form packs and survive in the wild a regular dog like a golden retriever would get eaten by a lion instantly. They are much more independent and still behave similarly to wild cats they are still pets and rely on humans to survive.

The process of taking in a stray isn’t usually instantaneous and straightforward.
