Hannah Buschert was first exposed to birds and birding during a required ornithology course at Oregon State University and she quickly caught the birding bug. It has had very few humans walk its soil and who have had little impact to this otherwise pristine nature. Which makes it a haven for seabirds….and and seabirders.

The system was intended as a hunter-centric model, both guided by and benefitting consumptive interests. Given that few hunters actually consume coyotes, wolves, cougars, and except for a few individuals, even bears, it is obviously a “waste” of wildlife to shoot or trap these animals just for “fun” 2. .”

In Oregon, the Barred Owl is taking over Northern Spotted Owl territory and threatening that smaller bird’s survival. There is evidence that toxoplasma leads, in humans, to an elevated risk of mental illness and depression. This is Mark’s first contribution to 10,000 Birds.
