The group, founded in 2007, also provides a free, full-time spay and neuter clinic for homeless stray and feral cats, plus low-cost, spay and neuter services for tame pet cats.

Dharamsala Animal Rescue helps the thousands of homeless street dogs that roam the streets of Dharamsala. These stray dogs are also without vaccinations, making them easy targets for contracting rabies. Many of the dogs are sick, injured, or starving.

A New York Times story that ran in 2001 about a homeless dog wandering around a suburban part of New York City, struck a chord with me.
