The Humane Society of the United States, SPCA of East Texas and Humane Society of North Texas worked with the Smith County District Attorney's Office to rescue 50 horses from a Lindale property. Some even suffered from parasite infestation and overgrown hooves. The group also included pregnant mares and a few yearlings.

Red-billed Curassow ( Crax blumenbachii ), a large, ground-dwelling bird belonging to the same family as the more familiar Plain Chachalaca of southern Texas, was never a very widespread species. About thirty minutes later, a few distant views of the Red-billed Curassow. Is that all we are going to get? Or so we thought.
