A small colony has even established itself at the Shanghai Zoo, though the majority of this species lives further south. Flavescent Bulbul apparently roam about in pairs or small groups, according to eBird. In fact, bulbuls are the work horses of the bird world in many parts of Asia and Africa. My photo supports this observation.

There were birds to watch but they were the gulls and ducks on the river, the sparrows in the fields, the finches that came to the feeder, the beautiful American Kestrel on the roadside wire. Toucans were something else entirely and we couldn’t even see them at the local zoo. Want to see toucans in Costa Rica?

Park in the lot across from Summit Gardens and Zoo, then walk across the railroad tracks. Spotted some massive migratory groups at Radisson Summit Hotel and Golf Panama. Seen in groups of 1-4 at Radisson Summit, Pipeline Road, and Summit Ponds. A group in the trees at Summit Ponds. One group of four on Old Gamboa Road.

Strangely, the photo accompanying the Wikipedia entry on Collared Finchbills , Asian birds, was taken at Cincinnati zoo. I wonder what Americans would think if, in a Wikipedia entry, a Bald Eagle would be illustrated using a photo taken at an Albanian zoo. What could be plainer than the Eurasian Tree Sparrow ?
