Little Big Year Week 33: Yellowstone

Last week we were in the Teton Valley, getting ready to head over to Wyoming, and Yellowstone National Park. Crows, Ravens, Clark’s Nutcrackers, White-crowned Sparrows and assorted waterfowl were all still present, but that was about it. Things were getting much colder, and the threat of snowfall was looming.

Little Big Year – Week 34: We visit Colorado and Texas

10,000 Birds

With Wyoming and South Dakota in our rear view mirror, we look toward Colorado, and a hot spot I have been anxious to visit. In the past, seeing some of these Ring-necked Ducks would have been rather scarce, so here is a shot of the small group that were on the larger pond. It was gone so quickly, there was no chance to get a photo.

Birding and Safari-ing South Africa with the ABA

10,000 Birds

The small group was a good counterpart to the large, convivial ABA Safari group of 98 birders. That’s a lot, and the organizers of the safari did an excellent job of creating an environment that offered small group birding during the day and a birders party every night. I am a birder, after all.
