From the Seattle PI. While no one questions the religious sincerity of Northern Arapaho tribal members, spokesmen for some conservation and animal rights groups question why the tribe can't meet its religious needs without killing wild eagles.

I feel that the real skill that I bring to the group is in my photography, and some what less, my writing skills. This Great Blue Heron was found up near Seattle this winter, and I was as cold as this birds looks to be! This male hoped right up on the side of my hide. It moved quickly to the list of my all time favorites.

Such is the case when we got a call from our good friends Scott and Monica, inviting us to travel with them by sailboat up to the San Juan Islands, north of Seattle. Here is a small group of the Pigeon Guillemots near their rocky Cliffside nesting area. And here is a small group the broke away and swam out to deeper water.

From the Seattle PI: The killing of about seven elk cornered in a farm pasture in eastern Skagit County has spurred state officials to close the elk archery season in the area and angered others who either witnessed or heard about the killings.
