Often the rustling of leaves would lead us to Red Junglefowl , squirrels, water monitors or small lizards. Most family groups of Red Junglefowl included around three young birds being fed by the female. The female Red Junglefowl and her young were often observed in the leaf litter. Male Red Junglefowl.

There's now a litter in my yard and still no sign of Mama, although they may just be exploring their territory. I was heartbroken because I thought one was orphaned but now that they travel as a group, I'm less upset. The birds know my voice and this one beat up looking squirrel actually comes right up to me.
