In Thailand, apparently, the number of Oriental Magpie-Robins has seriously declined in some areas apparently, partly because of poaching for the pet bird trade as the birds are good singers ( source ). This research was actually done only about 10 km away from a place I once lived for a couple of years, in Radolfszell, Germany.

I may have said this before, but thrushes always remind me a bit of German housewives – robust and reliable, but not particularly graceful (there is a reason I live in China and not in Germany). On the other hand, in the West, mice, and rats are also kept as pets, maybe with the same logic.
