So yes, I needed to see this beast, this flying door, this scourge of all things’ geese, this modern Roc. Skeins of Greylag Geese completed the picture. The animals themselves identified as “civilised” and started a hunger strike in protest. Our eagle makes Baldy look imparfait, even a bit manqué. The omens were bad.
