He was the gentlest of souls, a white floofy fur baby who would go crazy on seeing you back from school/college. Now when I see a puppy/dog in the streets I try my best to feed them and pet them and I hold my breath when I hear a puppy crying somewhere outside thinking someone might be hurting him. I’m going crazy with all this.

At an NYC puppy shelter a few weeks ago, my mind was just about made up when I met Chester – The cutest Lab puppy I’d ever seen. A good portion of the book is about the rescue dogs that grieved with her and comforted her during this time. Barth is also writing a second book: Covered in Fur: Lessons Learned Living With Six Dogs. Rascal was the fourth rescue dog to come into my home in nine months.
