Rabbits have become surprisingly scarce close to home, but I don’t have to go far to see warrens of them, with as many as 30 or 40 in one field. They took dogs to Australia, chickens across the Pacific, rabbits to England, horses to the New World, and then brought potatoes back. But hedgehogs? Brush-tailed Possums were brought from Australia to help start a fur industry. Rabbits are still an agricultural pest. In many ways, that is exactly what happened.
