And here in Europe, they are the real deal, an indigenous species and not domesticated animals gone wild. This was only my second time ever to observe this subspecies (the first time was here as well), two other subspecies I have observed in India. Finally, 24 species in Annex I of the EU Bird Directive were recorded in this area.

Magical“ is one of those words that suffer from overuse and I usually avoid it – but in this case, I cannot think of a better description. The catch is, the station often pumps some small fish into the pool, hence the jolly bird party. The choice of species is such that I do not know where to look first.
