Thanks to groups like Alley Cat Allies, outdoor and feral cats have become above the law. Neighbor A’s private property and peace of mind are both suffering because of the cats, which are killing government-protected species. Outdoor/feral cat people are bullies who prey on people unable to fight back, just as their cats do with birds.

“I wish for a federal law prohibiting domestic and feral cats from roaming free outdoors. Violation of the law would be punishable by substantial fines, plus the cat owners would be required to perform community service at a local wildlife rehabilitation facility.

Cat and dog rescuers share with wildlife rehabilitators the unfortunate burden of healing the hurt caused by other humans. Statistics come to life in the suffering of one dove or one mockingbird, the one needlessly stricken and dying for the sake of a personal choice. So, I expected tolerance at best, antipathy at worst.
