The best birds so far were two rare geese, Lesser White-fronted and Red-breasted Goose (both my second observations ever), plus Bewick’s Swan and Red-crested Pochard – all in Greece. Feral Pigeon – Columba livia. House Sparrow – Passer domesticus. Eurasian Tree Sparrow – Passer montanus.

Jan 14 : A business trip to Wetzlar in Hessen allows for some quick roadside birding in the Lahnaue where I am lucky to encounter a fine flock of geese (fine for the deep hinterland) that includes Greater White-fronts and even two Barnacles. Feral Pigeon Columba livia f. A Willow Tit is also noteworthy.
