For once, eBird gives a good description of the Asian Glossy Starling, calling it a “Fierce-looking, large songbird” As are humans, this species is fairly urbanized – it “sometimes enters urban areas to roost, e.g. in Singapore” (HBW). Lucky ducks. Next to me, a local birder tried to get a photo of a Common Iora.

Wisconsin Falconer Legally Traps Snowy Owl

” Most shrugged and said very few US falconers fly owls because they’re slow and some species you can only hunt at night, that wouldn’t be much fun to watch. If anything, falconry birds like the above red-tailed hawk are a hunting partner, especially wild caught birds. Falconers starve their birds.
