Birding Rockefeller State Park Preserve

This past Sunday was a hot sunny day in New York and the family and I took full advantage of it, exploring Rockefeller State Park Preserve, a pretty park in Westchester County, not too far north of the Bronx. The scenery is top-notch, the trails are well-maintained, and there was not a speck of litter anywhere in the preserve.

My Top Ten Birds of 2016 (or, Let’s Remember the Good Things about 2016)

I started the year in Florida, traveled to India with the ABA in February, combined family and birding in an August trip to California, and in-between saw very good birds in New York and New Jersey. Seeing this giant, awkward yet majestic bird walk through the densely littered landscape was a surreal experience. (4)
