Cocker put out a call for people’s personal experiences with birds and people responded, over 600 people, most of who are credited in the Acknowledgements section. ” One of the more interesting aspects of Birds and People is its use of stories by just plain people. About 300 stories are used throughout the book.

Africa’s endangered species

More than 150 bird species are known to have become extinct over the past 500 years, and many more are estimated to have been driven to extinction before they became known to science. Several powerline marking experiments are in place, and hopefully a workable solution will be found for the main problem affecting this species.
