It was an exciting experience, though a remarkably chilly one, as winters in Castile and León can be very cold. My first sightings were on a rubbish tip not far from the town of Brasov in Transylvania. The mountains here have a strong population of these impressive carnivores, and they find rubbish tips irresistible.

It proved strong enough to take the many knocks and falls that a hard-used scope experiences during its lifetime. I’ve never quite understood why so many people wrap their scopes up in little jackets, (but nor do I understand why it’s so popular to dress dogs up in coats, too, as they are already wrapped in fur.

After securing our passage, I patiently waited for this once-in-a-lifetime experience to a place we have never been and lacked any knowledge of, we were in for a complete surprise. Regardless, we made it Marion and all else added to the experience. Salvin’s Prion. Our Flock to Marion was no different.

4 The Love Of Animals

His fur is growing mangy and patchy. Grooming his fur. It extended about ¾” below the cap and just wide enough to hold a drop of water on its tip. I balanced the water drop on the end of the arm and tipped it into Hamlet’s mouth. In fact, he is dying. He is having a hard time passing pellets and urinating. He swallowed.
