Thanks to better protection from hunting, this fancy bird is tame and easy to see at many sites in Costa Rica. Rufous-winged Woodpecker. Endangered and awesome, it’s pretty easy to experience this big parrot in the Pacific lowlands of Costa Rica from Tarcoles north to near Nicaragua. Buff-fronted Quail-Dove.
