More Encouragement to Bird at Home

My first experience was with a nesting pair, one bird was out at the time and the other was comfortably sitting quite low in the nest. We had shared our porch with a bold Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl the night before, so the expectation was there. Now, although I have seen this species several times before, we have a unique relationship.

My Top Ten Birds of 2016 (or, Let’s Remember the Good Things about 2016)

1) Dusky Eagle-Owl. But the best was when we were gathering at the gatehouse to leave (many of us still taking Taj selfies) and a sister birder casually asked if I’d seen the Dusky Eagle-Owl. There is no experience comparable to birding a dump, and, I have to say, I have never experienced a dump like this one. Bring on 2017!

Who Doesn’t Like Birds, Tigers, or the Taj Mahal?

In my mind, nothing beats traveling to memorable destinations to experience the grandeur of both human culture and natural beauty. Over 300 species on this particular trip last February, including spurfowl, storks, owls, hornbills, drongos, sunbirds, and plenty of other Asian avian attractions.
