This group is made up of rescues that are trained with American Sign Language and hand commands. They are then trained to become registered therapy dogs. I didn’t know this, but the Dalmatian Club of American mandates euthanasia of all deaf pups. dogs people helping animals rescues' How truly sad.

The Texas Attorney General ruled earlier this month that the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center can withhold records of a committee that oversees the use of animals in training and research. Tags: university research animal experimentation animal rescue medical research. I bet there's probably some ugly stuff in those records.

The event is to be held at Pacha on Thursday, October 22, 2009, and all funds raised will benefit the city’s broad rescue, shelter and adoption services. Since 1995, Animal Care has, on average, assisted in the rescue of 43,000 animals annually as the largest agency of its kind in the North East, servicing all five boroughs of New York City.

It was Los Angeles, after all, where mileage has no bearing on time, but where time was precious for my little rescue on this crystal morning. I’d been volunteering at rescues through my young adulthood, and I was training as a cat socializer, teaching terrified felines — the unlucky victims of cruel people — to trust humans again.
