For two of my group – Michael Lambarth and Sandra Fisher – this was their first serious birding trip, and they were bitten by the bug. For example, I saw my first wild Bean Geese in 1974, but were they rossicus or fabalis ? Taiga Bean Geese with Greater Whitefronts in Estonia. I haven’t a clue. All very confusing.
