Tiphys died either of a snakebite or of a mysterious illness but he was not killed by either a tiger or a rhinoceros. A Crested Serpent Eagle , looking a bit ridiculous after a rain. He was also nearly strangled by a pet python that he kept. Another “maybe this is” species: a possible Wallaces Hawk-eagle.

The Crested Serpent Eagle is another species bound to suffer from a naming error in perpetuity. If you are afraid of spiders, you might want to get a pet Streaked Spiderhunter. The Crested Bunting would certainly be a highlight in a post on buntings (such as this one ) but does not particularly stand out here in Yunnan.
