This terrific waterway, flanked with paths and studded with stepping stone bridges, is home to a lot of Eastern Spot-billed Ducks and Eurasian Teals. Eastern Spot-billed Ducks We crossed the channel to enter the stunning Temple Gardens. I’m amazed at how similar my day list is to that of others that have worked this route.

Moorcroft Manor, a Great Place to Lay a Birding Head Down

Red-knobbed Coots and Little Dabchicks patrolled the water’s surface, and every now and then a nervous flock or Yellow-billed Duck would land and then quickly leave. It was perhaps unsurprising that the lake at the end of the garden attracted the lion’s share of the birds. The lake with the Drakensberg Mountains in the background.
