Once upon a time in Bojcinska Forest

Once upon a time, vast forests of Quercus robur , known as common, pedunculate, European or English oak blanketed the Sava River floodplain, all the way from Croatia down to the river’s confluence in Belgrade, Serbia. Also, there was a Black Kite awaiting us, as well as one Red-footed Falcon sitting on a dead oak branch.

Birding the Cyclades: My my, how can I resist you?

Nick finds a bird-shaped protrusion at the top of the rock – Black-eared Wheatear , not exactly a species I expect to observe from a boat deck. A few weeks from now (it was early April), Eleonora’s Falcons will become a possibility, too, once they return from Madagascar. The Sun already sets and I haven’t seen a new species in a while.
