Eurasian Green Woodpecker In other areas, the lawn was densely covered in daisies and I experimented a bit with photographing from low angles to make the daisies look even more dense. This abundance by no means meant theat they are easy to see, and I got quite a sore neck from peering into the canopy.

… The delicious mojito that I gulped down with lunch had sufficiently numbed my poor, sore butt enough that getting back on the bike caused no pain. But first we had to explore the good habitat of the ex-golf course from the paved trails and there was no better way to do that then by bike. Joining this story a bit late?

In an interesting experiment featuring a stuffed model of a Collared Scops Owl , Crested Goshawks arrived when hearing the mobbing call of Light-vented Bulbuls that they use when encountering such a scops owl, but not when hearing other mobbing calls. On the plus side, it looks rather funny when wet.

Backyard Birding in Breckenridge

Of course, this is one of the great boons of traveling for a birder: you get to see stuff that would otherwise be impossible to see on your home turf. The male Pine Grosbeak is, of course, gorgeous, but the subtle shading of a young bird, below, is pretty nice too! Of course, other birds besides finches came down to the tray feeder.
