The conference is to be held from July 23-26 in Washington, DC. Someday, I hope to attend one of these conferences. It looks like they have some great workshops with people like Gene Bauer from Farm Sanctuary and Nicole Pollata from the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF.). Tags: humane society conferences.

The topic was the concept of humans as predators, or hunters, or really, eaters of meat, and I was discussing the many ways in which people misconceived this notion. Any buffalo bones from prior to that transition were obviously scavenged.

The Episcopal Church embraces a resolution that specifically addresses puppy mills and factory farms. The Catholic Church is not alone among major religions on this issue.

To the Editor: Missing from your article was mention of deleterious environmental and health effects resulting from intensive animal farming in addition to global warming. This would result in improved human health, decreased environmental destruction and better animal welfare. Human beings, like dogs, are omnivores.
