Jayne Neville, a former wildlife rehabilitator specializing in songbirds, moved from Connecticut to Florida and immediately began making the acquaintance of all the birds in the area. Jayne had a pet carrier handy for wildlife rescue and the eagle was transported to Peace River Wildlife Center and treated for electrocution.

They are highly trained homing pigeons, which is why it costs more to hire a company that will deliver this type of bird, and to make sure they are released correctly. Reputable companies belong to the International White Dove Society or the National White Dove Release Society, organizations which set rules of conduct and ethics.

Wildlife rehabilitators are a multi-tasking lot. Bottom line: so many of these well-meaning people picked up their information from the internet, from pet supply companies, or from – cringe – even veterinarians. The only source of good information is a well-established wildlife center.
