Resource partitioning is basically the term for liking different things, which makes it easier to live together (think you eating most of the meat and your wife eating most of the vegetables of a shared dinner). Apparently, some Zebra Doves can be quite valuable, though presumably not the ones I saw.

From Hiro, we learn how Northern Pygmy Owls are “rule breakers,” not incubating eggs till all are hatched and then raising owlets that mature at the same rate even though the eggs were laid asynchronously (as most owl eggs are). In addition to telling stories, she brilliantly evokes sense of place and immediacy of experience.

Not only are they killed in cruel ways, but it is well documented that they are raised in ways that cause them great discomfort and agony. Consequently, one ought not to eat meat until actual practice is changed. The question that must be raised, however, is how the conclusion not to eat meat follows from this.

I liked the way the film connects oil use to an oil company. And the wife says that one thing the family does is eat less meat and eggs (and they raise the animals on their land), but even that is glossed over. It's about the people and the land. A young woman in Nigeria (can you say Shell Oil?) But they dismiss food.

The healthiest diets of all, however, go a step further, and get their nutrients from beans, grains, vegetables, and fruits rather than from meats. There is no need for infants to be raised on cow's milk formulas.
