I don't support animal research and I have no sympathy for animal researchers. I don't believe they are working for human welfare. I almost quit a book club a year ago because one of the members is a proponent of medical research. She is a data tech for a clinical testing company (for profit by the way.)

In a brief tour of a particular biotech research company, I was taken to the animal lab. This adorable poster that draws you in to the sweet faces of these animals basically proclaims that it is a good thing to use their bodies for medical research, which almost always leads to pain and death. It was a jarring moment.

Oftentimes, scientists seem to think that they just need to waive their PhDs and research projects in everyone's faces and we should all shut up and bow our heads to their great wisdom. But universities and scientists are not always there working for pure learning or the improvement of humanity.

There is one member of this group who works for a pharmaceutical company. She supports medical research on animals. This woman, who I now mentally call "THE VIVISECTOR," defended medical research. The descriptions of the research subjects are very roundabout, but still horrific to me. Which surprised me.

This statement is mainly motivated by a recent conversation with someone who has a science degree (I think it's biology), but who actually works for a clinical testing company. And those scientists are humans with the same motivations and agendas as any other human. She's always talking about Darwin and DNA testing.)
