Just as the ranger was telling us that we might see wild cats – well, not wild cats, but rather, Wildcats , the wild version of the domestic cat, Felis silvestris lybica , one of those cats popped its head out of the brush about 50 feet beyond her. The most interesting thing about this cat was lack of kitty-cat-ness.

I am so sick of the feral cat colonies that infest so many locations that I like to bird. And while I am sick of the cat colonies I am even more sick of the deluded people who believe that by feeding feral cats they are somehow helping them. Outdoor cats live short, ugly, violent lives. Keep your cat indoors.

How To Help A Baby Bird

They need another day or two to figure out how to use the flappy things on the sides of their body and yeah for a week they are going to be awkward in their movements and very vulnerable to predation (especially cats, keep them indoors) but this adults hang out and watch them. Birds of prey look cool, but they can’t count.
