• Tigers and other big cats are able to mimic other animals, tigers in specific mimic deer, bear, cattle and monkeys and the South American Margay can mimic the call of baby monkeys to lore adults. Deer, cattle, camel and goats are more closely related to dolphins and whales then they are with horses.

This is cattle country and it is actually fenced, which many parts of the Kimberley are not and you pass through Ruby Plains and then Carranya station to reach the crater. This was prolific with flowering trees, which were mostly Grevillea refracta and a favourite food for the honeyeater family of birds. Camel bush. Mulla mulla.

Grey-crowned Babblers are usually in family groups of eight and are easily heard as you travel along the track. All of these species need water and will travel to nearby cattle troughs for water, because there is very little in the way of naturally occurring water in the area now. Two distant Pied Honeyeaters. Velliia panduriformis.
