So when Nutmeg Mannikin was finally, at long last, added to the ABA list last summer, it was a foregone conclusion that those birders at the ABA’s San Diego rally, of which I was one, would need to make a trip out of our way to get it. I doubt that would be true if I still lived in California. I have never seen a “Brown-throated ” House Wren near human settlements. The Clark’s Grebe was split from the Western Grebe in 1985; our grebes here are Clark’s, but I have seen Westerns in southern California. A Transvolcanic Jay.
