Unsure if this is the right place to ask but,Is it a common practice for shelters to deny the adoption of a fixed female cat when the homeowner has an intact female dog and a couple of fixed bunnies? Could she get a pass from the board and adopt anyway if she were to ask?

Cookson were accused of participating in an “off the books” arrangement wherein Harmon and Cookson carried out unauthorized mass euthanasias at the Tulare County, California shelter – reportedly using nonstandard and painful methods – by falsifying records to cover their actions.

All companion animals including dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, and lizards would be considered as pets. These laws would make a dramatic difference in keeping offenders away from potential new victims by allowing animal shelters and humane societies to more thoroughly screen potential adopters-and by alerting the public to their whereabouts. Animal abuse is not only a danger to our cats, dogs, horses, and other animals, but also to people.
