Concern for the future of this species is such that the WPA and BirdLife International-Vietnam Programme are working together to organize immediate action. Conservationists searched intensively in 2011 but found none.

Birding Balangshan, Sichuan, China (part 1)

Mid-May to Mid-Jun is the best time to see some of the most exciting species here, as this is the prime breeding time. Posing on the – surprisingly numerous – ruins of buildings here at this altitude gives them a bit of an aura of extras in a Vietnam movie. As usual, my timing to come to Balangshan was slightly off.
