Birding the Kruger Park (4): Letaba area

As the national bird of Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, the African Fish Eagle is usually very busy whenever it stays in these countries, giving speeches, opening shopping centers, etc. Others are being killed for use in traditional medicine. Letaba is a largish rest camp in the North central part of the park.

Flock to Marion

Birdlife South Africa has previously done two of these types of trips before, previously called Flock to Sea – Namibia in 2013 and Flock to Nowhere in 2017, in partnership with MSC Cruises. These have been used by meteorologists, technicians, and researchers who spend about 13 months on the island at a time researching a variety of sciences.

Birding Shanghai in November 2022

Hopefully, the winter time in Shanghai gives the Black-faced Buntings some time to relax from the challenges of the breeding season. As it is critically endangered (there are only about 100 left), I think it can be forgiven for killing the occasional Pale Thrush (which is listed as Least Concern).
