Once upon a time, vast forests of Quercus robur , known as common oak, pedunculate oak, European oak or English oak, blanketed the Sava River floodplain, all the way from Croatia down to the river’s confluence in Belgrade. At the end of the month my list stood at a ridiculous 45, instead of 100 or more. Which is good news.

This shearwater is a Mediterranean endemic, breeding from Sardinia and Corsica to the Adriatic and the Aegean. Tha dropping numbers are suspected in Greece and Croatia, and confirmed in Italy, France and Malta. As air carriers, to Athens and back from Syros to Athens I used the Aegean Airlines and later, from Thessaloniki, Air Serbia.
