Fish and Wildlife Service, the American Bird Conservancy, and other groups teamed up to translocate 50 of the birds to another island, Laysan. The population of Millerbirds on Laysan has doubled , and breeding seems to be going well. A recent survey of the birds suggests that the effort has been a success.
