There is a long list of articles and books on how to feed birds in your yard. So, I was happy to see the publication of a book on all aspects of wild bird feeding—history, culture, and economics. It is a serious book with a friendly attitude. There was cleaning, lots of cleaning of feeders and yard. And squirrels.

And a highly recommendable book it is, there is no doubt about it. Excellent book to have as a reference at home, or to keep in your car (which I am tempted to do), but not to carry around.

Birds of Malaysia – Covering Peninsular Malaysia, Malaysian Borneo and Singapore

Most of such bird tours are branded “Borneo”, without ever mentioning the name of the country in the name of the tour. The format is 23 x 16 cm (9 x 6 in) and on my bird guide bookshelf it stands among the larger books, together with Robson’s “Birds of South-East Asia”. And yet, it easily fits the largest pocket of my reporter’s vest.
