There is a wonderful site called UAE Birding , that makes a great reference once you have decided how much time you have to spare and it carries a list of part-time guides who may be able to show you around. My personal list for Safa Park runs to 40+, but upwards of 200 species have been recorded here over the years.

The most valuable site I found was UAE Birding , an excellent site full of location guides, recent sightings, and a busy forum where its members discuss all aspects of birdiness in the area. The internet provided a great deal more information.

The trend at this time of year is a downturn in shared lists and birds reported, nevertheless, 12 (is this a record?) beats have still managed to share 82 checklists and accounted for 737 species.
