Flat flies and vulture vomit: either one can send an otherwise cheerful vet technician running from the room. And the two species were not inclined to get on, by which I mean that Lions will kill other large predators including Painted Wolves. Something was clearly badly wrong with both of his back legs, I’m no vet, but I would guess they had both been broken. Support Wildlife ACT in supporting them. Her concern was well founded.

Years ago, I became a wildlife volunteer and advocate because of a cat who caught a bird. The wildlife center was an hour away if I was lucky. Back then, I didn’t know enough about birds, but I knew a lot about cats. I surprised her and she dropped the bird before vaporizing again. I scrambled for a box.

This post is from Lisa Beth Acton, a wildlife rehabilitator in Accord, NY. She has a captive-bred education bird named Xena, a Eurasian Eagle Owl.
