The person who named this bird apparently cleverly chose the name Yellow-rumped Flycatcher to distinguish the bird from the Narcissus Flycatcher, which is also yellow-rumped. In Chinese, this bird is called White-browed Flycatcher, which introduces some (possibly undesirable) logic into the world of bird names.

Well – I only saw two species, the most common ones at Sepilok, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. It also happily calls in the early morning, at least where I found it, a service highly appreciated by bird watchers like me. Humanity is overrated. Not that they need many words anyway. As it does not look shabby at all.

Apparently, soloensis stands for “Discovered in or native to the Solo River valley” (Wikipedia; the Solo river is a river in Indonesia). It is not a bird I am ever likely to find boring, though.
